History re-enactment

Posted on: 4th March 2022

After learning about the 1066 invasion of England, Year 7 history students designed their own cardboard models of the castles, weapons, and ships that were used during and after the Norman invasion. Students used these models in lesson to re-enact the Battle of Hasting on the school field. The Battle involved two student leaders, role playing the English and Norman kings, organising their soldiers (students) into battle formations, and ordering them to charge at the enemy. Students used their books as shields, scrunched up paper as arrows and their cardboard weapons for pretending to attack. It was a fantastic lesson which will be remembered by all students for years to come.
