Religious Studies
Religion, Philosophy and Ethics (RPE) helps students to explore the big questions of life, fostering understanding, tolerance, and critical thinking. Students will engage with a variety of religious and non-religious worldviews, ethical theories, and philosophical questions, developing skills in reasoning, empathy, and respectful debate.
Big questions of life
- Students will develop their cultural capital through learning about the beliefs and practices of the 6 major World Religions and other faith viewpoints by answering key questions.
- Students will be encouraged to understand the world from a variety of perspectives.
- Students will have a greater understanding of the world around them, which aims to develop more tolerant young people.
Critical thinking
- Students will be presented with topical, challenging issues in the news and encouraged to approach them from a range of viewpoints.
- Students will understand the impact that religious beliefs have on the everyday life and decisions of a religious believer.
Developing skills in reasoning
- Students will learn how to analyse sources and consider them from the perspective of religious believers.
