Art and Design/Photography
At the heart of our Art & Design curriculum is the belief that every student is an artist and that creativity is a powerful tool for self-expression, confidence, and personal growth. Our vision is to create a welcoming, inspiring, and inclusive environment where all learners can thrive through visual exploration and creative risk-taking.
To achieve this, we will:
- Encourage Personal Expression: We will provide a space where students can freely explore their personal narratives, cultural identities, and emotional responses through art and photography. Individual mentorship and guidance will help students develop their own artistic voice while respecting the diversity of creative approaches.
- Foster Critical Thinking and Exploration: Our curriculum will emphasise critical thinking, encouraging students to question traditional forms and conventions in art and photography. By studying contemporary and historical works, students will engage in thoughtful analysis and develop their capacity to push boundaries and redefine artistic norms.
- Support Creative Risk-Taking and Innovation: We believe that creativity flourishes when students feel supported to take risks. Our department will offer an environment where experimentation is encouraged, and failure is seen as a valuable part of the creative process. By exploring emerging technologies and non-traditional art forms, students will learn to innovate and adapt in a constantly evolving visual landscape.
- Equip Students with Technical Mastery and Conceptual Thinking skills: By offering comprehensive technical training in both traditional and digital mediums, alongside a deep understanding of conceptual art and contemporary theory, our department will equip students with the skills they need to execute their creative ideas effectively. This balance will allow students to express themselves fully while mastering their craft.
